ORA have a successful track record in seeking and securing research and development funding, both on our own and as part of multi-partner projects. We are a team of highly qualified individuals who maintain close links in the academic and commercial worlds. Since our inception, ORA have obtained funding from a wide range of sources. ORA were particularly effective at securing funding through Landfill Tax Credit (LTC) opportunities and delivered many useful projects. Recently ORA have been proactive in tendering for a range of work with WRAP (The Waste and Resources Action Programme). In addition ORA have experience as partners both in DEFRA funded work and EU co-ordination action projects. ORA keep a watching brief over existing sources of funding and are constantly looking for new opportunities and ‘research calls’ in relevant subject areas.

Like their other main services, the R&D subject areas where ORA have most expertise and experience are in the fields of sustainable biological waste management and recycling. Together with our partners ORA have an established track record in research into:

• Collection systems
• Public awareness raising
• Optimisation of composting and anaerobic digestion technologies
• Mechanical Biological Treatment
• Assessment of stabilisation of waste
• Product development for recycled products
• Compost field trials
• Biodegradable polymers

ORA are always keen to liaise with other potential partners to open up new areas of research and collaborate where appropriate with bids for funding either in a management role or as a partner providing a relevant technical input.
